Matt Weinglass is a multifaceted artist, residing in Los Angeles, California, with an extensive career in film, television, and music videos. He is the producer of the acclaimed Amazon Prime documentary Tupamaro: Urban Guerrillas (2019),and the creator of the animated series Crash: The Animated Series (2016-2020).
Matt was born in San Francisco, California, to a single mother, and is one of identical twin brothers. His twin brother, Jeremy Weinglass, is a concert pianist in Los Angeles. Matt began his acting career at the age of ten, joining the Scaramouche Repertory Theater, a children's theatre company in the Bay Area. He later attended the BFA acting conservatory program at UC Santa Barbara, where he co-founded The Sherwood Players, a theater company that produced original, topical, and edgy material.
After college, Matt moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a bouncer to support himself while pursuing a career in entertainment. He co-created and produced two TV series for LA36, AfterthoughTV and The Underground, both hosted by and starring Deanna Russo, which showcased progressive filmmakers and artists.
Under the name The Underground, LLC, Matt produced and directed documentary pieces around the world for various networks, including Al Gore's Current TV. His work includes Ballentine: Top of the World (2006),a documentary about the melting polar ice caps, and Freaks Like Us (2008),a docu-series documenting Senator Barack Obama's rise to the presidency.
As an actor, Matt has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including Rush Hour (2016),Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2011),and popular movies such as Epic Movie (2005),Rebound (2005),Hitchcock (2012),Oz, The Great and Powerful (2013),Muppets Most Wanted (2014),Bright (2017),and music videos, including Justin Bieber's Let Me Love You (2016).
Matt is also a teacher, offering a Director's Course in Hollywood and hosting a monthly Production Workshop series, SPECTRUM, which features prominent industry guest speakers.
