Mary Sanders, a talented individual with dual citizenship of the United States and Canada, has a remarkable story to share.
Born with a passion for Rhythmic Gymnastics, Mary was a two-time Canadian Champion, but her journey took an unexpected turn when she decided to represent the United States in honor of her late father's legacy. Her father, a Big Ten Champion and coach at the University of Michigan, passed away from cancer when Mary was just eight years old. This loss had a profound impact on Mary, and she often credits her father as the driving force behind her success.
Mary's determination and resilience in the face of adversity are truly inspiring. Despite facing numerous challenges, she persevered, drawing inspiration from her single mother and older brothers. Her hard work paid off, and she went on to become a 2004 US Olympian in Rhythmic Gymnastics, a two-time US Champion, and a Four Continents Champion.
Mary's accomplishments extend far beyond her gymnastics career. She has worked with Cirque du Soleil for over a decade, performing in various shows and holding various roles, including acrobat, contortionist, trampolinist, rhythmic gymnast, aerialist, artistic coordinator, choreographer, coach, and creative collaborator.
Mary has also made a name for herself in the world of entertainment. She was hired as the Co-Creative Director, choreographer, and performer for the 2012 and 2016 40-state Gymnastics tours, which featured some of the most talented gymnasts in the world, including Simone Biles, Nastia Liukin, Aly Raisman, and Jordyn Wieber. Both tours were incredibly successful, breaking records for the most successful post-Olympic tours in USA Gymnastics history.
In addition to her work in entertainment, Mary has also collaborated with Herjavec Group's Founder and CEO, Robert Herjavec. She runs the Entertainment and Global Partnerships division within Herjavec Entertainment, supporting the CEO and implementing strategic initiatives for the entire Executive Team.
Mary's latest venture has positioned her as an Executive Producer, and she will star in the upcoming TV series "Olympians at Heart," premiering in the summer of 2021.
