Mary Eaton, a renowned performer, was born in January 1901 and rose to fame as one of 'The Seven Little Eatons' in the 1920s and 1930s. With her siblings, including Joseph Eaton, Charles Eaton, Pearl Eaton, Doris Eaton, and Evelyn Eaton, who served as a stage manager, Mary received widespread recognition for her captivating performances.
Notably, she starred in both the 1920 and 1922 editions of the Ziegfeld Follies, earning the distinction of being Florenz Ziegfeld's backup in case his leading lady, Marilyn Miller, proved uncooperative. Mary's impressive talent and versatility led her to replace Miller as Eddie Cantor's leading lady in the iconic Broadway hit "Kid Boots" (1923) and again in "Sunny" (1927).
However, Mary's true calling lay in the world of talking pictures, and she was paired with the aging Broadway juvenile Oscar Shaw in the Marx Brothers' "The Cocoanuts" (1929). Her subsequent role in "Glorifying the American Girl" (1929) solidified her position as a leading lady.
