Marvin Hier

Rabbi Marvin Hier, a renowned religious leader, is the esteemed Dean and Founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance, a prestigious institution located in Los Angeles, California. His academic journey commenced with the receipt of his rabbinic ordination from the esteemed Rabbi Jacob Joseph Theological Seminary in New York. Subsequently, he honed his skills as a spiritual leader by serving as Rabbi for a period of fifteen years at Schara Tzedek Synagogue, an Orthodox congregation in Vancouver, Canada. Furthermore, he held the position of Hillel Director at the University of British Columbia, concurrently with his role as Rabbi. In 1977, Rabbi Hier embarked on a new venture by establishing the Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) and the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a prominent institution dedicated to the study and commemoration of the Holocaust, in Los Angeles. Throughout his illustrious career, Rabbi Hier has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Chevalier dans L'Ordre Nationale du Merite of France.
