Martyn Burke is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, writer, and novelist who has received numerous accolades in the United States and Canada.
His impressive body of work includes being nominated for an Emmy Award, a Writers Guild of America Award, and a Directors Guild of America Award, as well as winning Best Screenplay in Canada.
Burke's notable film credits include adapting George Orwell's classic novel Animal Farm and co-writing the Paramount comedy Top Secret!, which is just one example of his extensive work in Hollywood comedies and dramas.
In addition to his film work, Burke has also produced and directed the 2013 Peabody Award-winning feature documentary Under Fire: Journalists In Combat, which was also short-listed for the Academy Awards. He was awarded the International Press Institute's Auteur Award in 2015 for his contributions to the film industry.
As a novelist, Burke has written six highly acclaimed books, which have been translated and published in numerous countries around the world, including Japan, Turkey, France, Germany, Holland, and many others. His novel The Commissar's Report has recently been sold to HBO in Hollywood, with plans to adapt it into a television series.
Burke currently divides his time between Toronto, Canada, and Santa Monica, California.
