Biography

Martin Fry, the iconic lead singer of the 1980s new-wave band ABC, joined forces with Mark White to create a remarkable musical legacy. During the 1980s, Martin and ABC released five hit albums, including the critically acclaimed "Beauty Stab" in 1983, "Alphabet City" in 1987, and their magnum opus, "The Lexicon of Love", which topped the UK charts in 1982.

This impressive discography showcased the band's ability to craft catchy, memorable tunes that resonated with audiences worldwide. Their highest charting single, "The Look of Love", peaked at number four, while "When Smoky Sings", a heartfelt tribute to Smokey Robinson, reached the top twenty.

ABC's music has transcended generations, with their songs featuring in various TV shows and films, including the popular sitcom "The Office" in 2001 and the crime drama "The Firm" in 2009. The band's impressive dance chart credentials include three number one singles in the US: "The Look of Love", "Be Near Me" in 1985, and "When Smokey Sings" in 1987.

As one of the pioneering bands to emerge from the UK city of Sheffield, ABC shares a rich musical heritage with fellow legendary acts Heaven 17 and The Human League.
