Mark Thomas Tremonti, a talented guitarist and musician, was born on April 18, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan. At the tender age of 11, Mark began his musical journey by picking up the guitar, starting with an imitation Les Paul that cost a mere $25. As he grew older, Mark's passion for music only intensified, and he soon found himself forming his first band, 'Wit's End', during his freshman year at Lake Highland Preparatory School, where he met future bandmate Scott Stapp.
After high school, Mark attended Clemson University, where he majored in finance, but his heart remained in music. After a year, Mark returned to Florida State and reunited with Stapp, and the two began holding auditions for a new band. Drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall eventually joined the group, and the band was originally named 'Naked Toddler', inspired by a newspaper headline that Mark carried around in his wallet.
However, the band soon realized that the name 'Naked Toddler' was, well, a bit of a, shall we say, awkward choice. So, they changed their name to 'Creed', a decision that would prove to be a wise one, as the band went on to achieve great success.
In 1997, Creed released their debut album, 'My Own Prison', which has since sold an impressive six million copies to date. The band's success continued with the release of their second album, 'Human Clay', in 2000, followed by a VH1 Behind the Music special that same year, showcasing the incredible journey Mark and the other members of Creed have been on.
