Biography

Mario Jacob, a multifaceted creative force, entered the world in Paysandú, Uruguay, in the year 1943. A true Renaissance man, he has worn many hats throughout his illustrious career, including those of director, producer, editor, and sound engineer.

In collaboration with the equally talented Walter Tournier, Jacob co-founded the esteemed production company Imágenes, a venture that would go on to produce numerous groundbreaking projects.

Prior to his work in the film industry, Jacob's passion for journalism led him to explore the world of news and current events. This curiosity and drive ultimately culminated in the establishment of the Cinemateca del Tercer Mundo, a pioneering film archive located in Montevideo, which he founded in 1969 and led until 1974.

This remarkable individual's journey has been marked by a dedication to his craft, a willingness to take risks, and a commitment to innovation, leaving an indelible mark on the world of film and beyond.
