Marilyn Ghigliotti, a vibrant and spirited individual, hails from a rich Puerto Rican family background, born to Jeronimo and Luisa Ghigliotti, in the bustling city of New York. As the middle child, she was raised alongside her siblings, Evelyn and Leonardo, in a diverse cultural landscape that spanned New York, Long Island, and New Jersey. This unique upbringing instilled in her a resilient spirit and a knack for adapting to new surroundings, essential traits for navigating the ever-changing cultural tapestry of the Jersey Shore.
Marilyn's journey into the world of acting was a deliberate and introspective one. After facing personal challenges, she decided to pursue her passion for acting, enrolling at the esteemed Actors Training Institute in Red Bank, New Jersey, under the guidance of John Eyd, a renowned member of the Actors Studio in New York. For approximately two years, Marilyn honed her craft, absorbing the techniques and philosophies of the Actors Studio, which emphasized the importance of emotional authenticity and vulnerability on stage.
With her newfound confidence, Marilyn began auditioning for community theater productions in Southern New Jersey, showcasing her talent in a range of classic plays. Her debut performance left an indelible mark, as she discovered the thrill of being heard and seen, a sensation she had previously lacked as a middle child. During one of these productions, she crossed paths with Brian O'Halloran, with whom she would later co-star in Kevin Smith's groundbreaking film, Clerks.
Upon relocating to Los Angeles, Marilyn diversified her skills by working as a freelance hair and makeup artist, as well as a salon professional. She also continued to explore various aspects of the film industry, working both in front of and behind the camera to broaden her understanding of the craft.
