Marie-Lou Nahhas is a multifaceted individual who wears many hats as an actress, producer, and activist, currently residing in Brooklyn, New York.
Born and raised in Beirut, Nahhas began her journey in the performing arts at the tender age of six, honing her craft in her hometown before relocating to the United States with her family after completing high school.
Initially, she pursued a career in healthcare, with aspirations to become a doctor, but a life-altering experience during her final year of studies led her to re-evaluate her priorities and dedicate herself fully to acting.
In 2015, Nahhas made the bold move to New York City, where she immersed herself in various acting techniques, including Meisner, Stella Adler, and Stanislavski's method. She collaborated closely with Iraqi Broadway actor and director Abbas Noori, as well as painter, writer, and director Dana Nahhas, on a one-act play that premiered in both English and Arabic in Brooklyn and Beirut.
To further develop her craft, Nahhas embarked on a transformative journey, living in indigenous regions of Guatemala and becoming fluent in Spanish. Her extensive travels and experiences have greatly influenced her work and worldview.
Nahhas has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry, guest-starring in popular shows such as The Looming Tower and recurring in the final season of Orange is the New Black. Her role in the latter brought her widespread recognition and attention, which she leveraged to raise awareness about controversial topics and travel with the United Nations to Africa, working directly with survivors of female genital mutilation (FGM).
In addition to her acting pursuits, Nahhas teaches on-camera acting and co-produces shorts, features, and shows with her sister, Dana Nahhas, solidifying her status as a talented and multifaceted artist.
