Maren Emiko Elardo is a multifaceted filmmaker of Japanese-Italian American descent, hailing from the vibrant city of San Jose, California.

With an impressive academic background, Maren earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Production from California State University, Northridge, graduating in under three years. Her academic journey was marked by a strong emphasis on editing and a minor in Photography & Video.

Maren's fascination with storytelling began in her childhood, when she would create stop-motion Barbie films and skits with her sisters. Over time, her creative endeavors evolved to focus on emotionally resonant and heartfelt narratives.

In January 2023, Maren's script, Ikigai, received the prestigious Golden Globe Foundation Fellowship through CSUN's Cinema and Television Arts program, marking a significant milestone in her career. Ikigai, her directorial debut, is a poignant and personal film inspired by her mother's childhood experiences as a Japanese American.

In addition to her own work, Maren has made significant contributions to major live broadcasts. She has served on stage at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards and has worked backstage with the executive producers in 2025.
