Biography

Marcin Wrona is a talented director, scriptwriter, and producer who has made a significant impact in the film industry. Born in Poland, he received his education from schools in Poland and Amsterdam, and later went on to earn a PhD in film directing in 2011.

As a young filmmaker, Wrona's short diploma film "Magnet Man" (2001) gained widespread recognition and accolades, including the Best Student Film Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002. This early success set the stage for his future projects.

Wrona's first feature film, "My Flesh My Blood" (2009),premiered at the Rome Film Festival and received numerous awards, including the Journalist's Award and the Best Script Award at the Polish Debuts Film Festival in 2009. The film also won the Grand Prix of the Polish Edition Hartley-Merrill Award in 2007 and the Third Prize of Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Award in Cannes in the same year.

Wrona's second feature, "The Christening" (2010),premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, and received widespread critical acclaim. The film won several awards, including the Silver Lion Award for Best Film, the Best Actor Award, and the Best Editing Award at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia in 2010. "The Christening" also won awards at various other film festivals, including the Rejkyavik International Film Festival, the Mons - Love International Film Festival, the Prague - Febio International Film Festival, and the Cracow - Off Plus Camera Film Festival.

Wrona's third film, "Demon", is currently in post-production and is a Polish-Israeli co-production starring Itay Tiran in the lead role.

In addition to his work in film, Wrona has also directed several well-received and awarded TV dramas, including Harold Pinter's "Collection" and "The Morality of Mrs. Dulska". He has also worked on popular TV series.

Wrona has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the Annual Award of the Ministry of Culture in 2011. He is a member of the European and Polish Film Academies.

In 2013, Wrona made his musical debut with "Chopin must die", which premiered simultaneously in Warsaw and London.
