Biography

Here is the biography of Marcel Dalio:

Marcel Dalio was born Israel Moshe Blauschild in Paris, France in 1900. He was a character actor who became a sought-after figure in European cinema, known for his expressive eyes and animated face. He appeared in several iconic films, including Jean Renoir's "Rules of the Game" (1939) and "Grand Illusion" (1937).

Dalio married the beautiful Madeleine Lebeau, and the couple fled to Portugal after the Germans invaded France. They eventually made their way to Mexico City, where they applied for political asylum, before being granted temporary visas to Canada.

Dalio's career in Hollywood was marked by a series of forgettable films, but he eventually found success with his role in "Casablanca" (1942). The film was a classic, with Dalio playing the role of Emil, the croupier.

Dalio and Lebeau separated and divorced in 1943, both going on to successful careers. Dalio never remarried and continued to work in film, appearing in notable roles such as "Catch-22" (1970).
