Marc Almond

Marc Almond, the renowned Synth-pop and New Wave artist, embarked on a journey of self-discovery following his parents' divorce. He was accepted into a general art design course at Southport College, where he delved into the world of performance art. During his time at art college, Almond showcased his creativity through a series of performance theater pieces, each one a testament to his artistic expression. Inspired by the avant-garde style of Andy Warhol, Almond's works included "Zazou", "Glamour in Squalor", and "Twilights and Lowlifes". His admiration for the influential Siouxsie and the Banshees led him to leave college with a 2.1 honors degree and ultimately, to form the iconic duo Soft Cell in 1979. The band's meteoric rise to fame in the early 1980s was marked by their hit single "Tainted Love", a song that would cement their place in the annals of music history.
