Malcolm Needs, a multifaceted individual, was born on December 19, 1957, as the fourth of five siblings. Growing up in Edmonton, North London, he initially pursued a career in golf, successfully qualifying as a teaching professional with the Professional Golfers Association at Lilleshall. However, in the 1980s, his creative inclinations shifted towards writing comedy sketches, which eventually led to his employment as a writer by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). This marked the beginning of his journey towards stage success, with two notable plays, "Strip Poker" and "Pin Money," garnering attention. As he transitioned into the world of film, his debut effort, "Shoreditch," while neither critically acclaimed nor commercially successful, was followed by "Charlie," a biographical drama about the life of criminal Charlie Richardson, which received a more positive reception. Additionally, his short film "Wrap Up Warm," a poignant protest against the fur trade, earned him an award. In 2008, Needs took the initiative to establish The Movie Works, a production company he directs, with the aim of supporting and nurturing small film projects, providing a platform for emerging talent to flourish.
