Mak Wai-cheung embarked on a distinguished career as a martial arts actor and stuntman, with his early years spent honing his craft at the renowned Hong Kong film studio, Shaw Brothers. Under the guidance of the esteemed Chia-Liang Liu, a veteran martial arts actor and director, Mak Wai-cheung had the privilege of appearing in many of Liu's most notable films, including the iconic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978) series. As his skills and reputation grew, Mak Wai-cheung went on to collaborate with another legendary stunt team, the world-renowned Jackie Chan Stunt Team, in the mid-1980s. Later, he joined forces with yet another prominent Hong Kong stunt team, led by the accomplished Donnie Yen. One of Mak Wai-cheung's most memorable on-screen roles was that of the Monkey-style fighter in Donnie Yen's directorial debut, Legend of the Wolf (1997).
