Magenta Baribeau, a talented individual, was born in Hull, Quebec, situated on the opposite side of the river from Canada's capital, Ottawa. As a child, she showcased her artistic inclinations by creating imaginative plays and memorizing her favorite movies. At the tender age of 10, she began writing plays with her brother, demonstrating her early affinity for the craft.
Despite her aspirations to become a model, Baribeau was unfortunately rejected due to her height of 5'4". However, this setback did not deter her from pursuing her passion for the arts. At 17, she relocated to Montreal, Quebec, and enrolled in various acting schools, honing her skills in both French and English. Additionally, she holds a major in Film Production from Concordia University, with plans to direct her own indie/horror movie in the future. Baribeau is fluent in French and English, and also possesses a working knowledge of Italian, Spanish, and Japanese.
Known affectionately as "The Queen of Montreal Goths," Baribeau has made a name for herself in the city's underground scene, organizing numerous events and garnering attention from the Montreal press. Her fondness for the horror genre is evident, as her first two leading roles in Montreal features were in horror films.
Baribeau cites a range of influential directors, including Darren Aronofsky, Woody Allen, Todd Solondz, George Romero, Tim Burton, and Dario Argento, as inspirations for her work. Currently, she is actively involved in several film projects, both as an actress and director, while also working on her debut novel.
