Biography

Ahmed Magdy is a multi-talented artist, actor, and filmmaker, born in Cairo, Egypt. He is the CEO of Garage Art Production and a former UNFPA Champion. Ahmed is also the current Goodwill water ambassador for the European Union.

He graduated from Ain Shams University's Faculty of Law and later joined Al-Tamy Theater Troupe as an actor and assistant director. Ahmed's debut film was the independent short documentary "MAGRA AL SEIL (RIVERBED)" (2007),followed by "ZIZO" (2007) and "KEIKA BEL CREMA (CREAM CAKE)" (2008),which received several awards.

Ahmed directed the documentary "IlA AL-BAHR (TO THE SEA)" (2009) in cooperation with the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) of the American University in Cairo (AUC). The film participated in the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and was screened at several other festivals.

In 2013, Ahmed received the SANAD Development Grant from the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, and in 2014, he received the AFAC Production Grant for his debut narrative feature "THE GIRAFFE" (2018). The film premiered at the 40th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) and received wide critical acclaim.

As an actor, Ahmed has appeared in several films, including "ASAFEER AL NEEL (BIRDS OF THE NILE)", "MICROPHONE", "THE GATE OF DEPARTURE", "ALI, THE GOAT, AND IBRAHIM", for which he won the Best Actor Award at the Trophées Francophones du Cinéma in Sénégal, "EXT. NIGHT", "SEIF TAGREEBY (EXPERIMENTAL SUMMER)", "NAWARA", and "MAWLANA". He has also appeared in several TV series, including "AL AHD: AL KALAM AL MUBAH", "EL BEYOUT ASRAR", "LA TOTTFE' AL SHAMS", "LE A'LA SE'R", "WAHET EL GHOROUB", and "FAMILY SIZE".

Ahmed has been involved in several environmental and women's rights campaigns, including a campaign against the use of plastic products and a speech on the importance of ending violence against women during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence event.

He has also participated in several film festivals and workshops, including the Arab Film Festival in Toronto, the RFF-Revart Film Festival, and the Luxor African Film Festival. Ahmed has starred in several notable TV series, including "FORSA TANYA (A SECOND CHANCE)" and "EL ANESA FARAH 2", and has received several awards for his performances.

In recent years, Ahmed has appeared in films such as "HAZR TAGAWOL (CURFEW)" and "TALAAT HARB 2", and has starred in TV series such as "QASR EL NIL", "BENT EL SULTAN", "EL ANESA FARAH 3", and "EL ANESA FARAH 4". His most recent projects include the film "The Devil's Promise" and the TV series "EL MESHWAR".
