Mackenzie Leigh is a renowned producer, based in both Manitoba, Canada, and Los Angeles, California. Her impressive accolades include being the winner of the prestigious U.S. INPUT Producer Award, a fellow of the esteemed Berlinale JETS Initiative, Hot Docs Accelerator Program, Telefilm's Producers Without Borders at EFM, and Women in Film (WIF) LA's Creative Producing Program.
Mackenzie's most recent feature film, DAUGHTER OF THE SUN, garnered widespread attention and accolades, screening at the renowned Fantasia festival where it won the Audience Award, as well as the Berlinale 2024 and Fantaspoa, where it took home the Best Actor award. Her previous feature film, SON OF THE SUNSHINE, was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award, the Canadian equivalent of the Academy Awards, and received critical acclaim from Indiewire, with praise for its "mature, immediately involving story".
Mackenzie's extensive credits include a range of projects, including the documentary IN THE BEGINNING WAS WATER AND SKY, which aired on PBS, the critically acclaimed feature film AMERIKA, which won the INPUT TV Best Film award, the drama OUR SECRET, TIME TRAVELING THROUGH TIME, which screened at multiple festivals including PÖFF Tallinn Black Nights, SIFF, Flickers' Rhode Island First Prize, and Omeleto, the television program MEMORIES OF YOUTH, which aired on CBC, and the short film TO ALL THAT WE ARE, which was featured at Inside Out TIFF Lightbox.
In addition to her producing credits, Mackenzie has also ventured into directing, with her short film debut, HEALER, screening at multiple Oscar-qualifying festivals and winning the EDA Award Special Mention at the Whistler Film Festival, as well as the Youth Award for Best Short Film at Kristiansand International Children's Film Festival. Mackenzie is currently developing her directorial debut feature, NORTHERN LIGHTS.
