Biography

MacDonald Carey, a renowned American film and television actor, gained widespread recognition for his iconic role as Dr. Tom Horton on NBC's esteemed soap opera, Days of Our Lives, which premiered in 1965. For an impressive three decades, he remained a central and integral cast member of the show.

Carey's film career spanned the 1940s to the 1960s, during which time he predominantly appeared in second-features, also known as "B" pictures. As a result, he earned the moniker "The King of the B's," a title reminiscent of Lucille Ball's esteemed title as the "Queen of Bs." Occasionally, he would take on second leads or supporting roles in "A" pictures, such as his role as a detective investigating a suspected serial killer, Joseph Cotten, in Alfred Hitchcock's gripping thriller, Shadow of a Doubt, released in 1943.

In addition to his successful film career, Carey also enjoyed a thriving career on Broadway and radio. His impressive range and versatility as an actor allowed him to excel in various mediums.

Tragically, MacDonald Carey's life was cut short when he passed away in 1994, but his legacy lives on through his enduring role as Dr. Tom Horton on Days of Our Lives, which he had been a part of since its inception in 1965.
