M. Caner Alper was born in Izmir, Turkey in the year 1970, marking the arrival of the second child in a family of four. From a young age, he displayed a profound fondness for creative activities, including painting, puppetry, and dancing. After completing his high school education at the prestigious Izmir Turkish College, Alper reluctantly pursued a degree in Industrial Engineering, only to be pleasantly surprised by his successful graduation.
As a child, Alper's fascination with theater and cinema blossomed into a lifelong passion, with his early experiences performing on stage during his middle and high school years serving as a catalyst for his future endeavors. In his free time, he indulged in reading and writing, attempting to craft short stories and screenplays, although he later confessed to discarding most of his early works.
Prior to embarking on a career in the textile industry as an engineer, Alper dabbled in various occupations, including working as a cashier in restaurants, an animator in holiday resorts, a cabin attendant in airlines, and a subtitle translator for movies. Midway through this journey, he redirected his focus towards reading, writing, documentaries, and feature films.
In addition to penning numerous unproduced scripts, Alper co-directed three feature films, namely Zenne (2012),Çekmeceler (2015),and Lacrimosa (2020),alongside Mehmet Binay. Furthermore, he authored a collection of short stories, Bugün Bizde Temizlik Var (2004),as well as a memoir, Temiz Aile Çocuğu (2019),and two plays, Cam Boncuklar (2019) and Senede Bir Gün (2019). His written works have been published in various magazines and newspapers.
Alper is a dog lover and shares his life with a loyal canine companion named Çilli. He remains optimistic about the future, looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
