During a welcome home party, held in his honor following an on-location movie shoot, an argument with his wife, the talented actress Kathleen O'Connor, escalated to a fatal conclusion. In a shocking and heartbreaking incident, Reynolds took his own life in front of the party guests.
Despite this tragic ending, Reynolds' legacy lives on through his body of work, including his final film, Back to God's Country (1919),which was completed and credited to another notable filmmaker, Irvin Willat.
