Luv Ranjan is a renowned Indian filmmaker who has made a significant impact in the Hindi film industry, particularly with his youth-centric films. His educational background includes schooling at St. Paul's Academy in Ghaziabad and a degree from the Hindu College, Delhi University.
Before venturing into filmmaking, Ranjan worked as an assistant director for Suneel Darshan. He then pursued a writing course at the New York Film Academy in 2005, which marked a turning point in his career.
Ranjan's directorial debut, Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011),was a sleeper hit that received widespread acclaim. The film, starring Kartik Aaryan, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and others, tells the story of three bachelors navigating love and relationships. It was screened at the Indian Film Festival in Berlin and earned the Most Successful Small Budget Film Award at the ETC Bollywood Business Awards 2010.
Ranjan's subsequent films, Akaash Vani (2013) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015),further solidified his reputation as a director of youth-centric films. Akaash Vani, a romantic drama starring Kartik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharuccha, received positive reviews from critics. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, the sequel to his debut film, continued the story of three young men dealing with love and relationships.
Ranjan's 2018 film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, was a romantic comedy starring Kartik Aaryan, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Sunny Singh. The film became a blockbuster, earning over Rs. 152-156 crores worldwide. It was one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2018.
In 2023, Ranjan directed Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, a romantic comedy starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The film received mixed reviews from critics.
In addition to directing, Ranjan has also been involved in writing and producing films and TV shows. He started his production company, Luv Films, in 2021 with his childhood friend Ankur Garg. He has produced several films, including Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, De De Pyaar De, Jai Mummy Di, Malang, Vadh, and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
Ranjan married his girlfriend, Alisha Vaid, in February 2022.
