Luke was born in June 1985, a proud Essex boy, and was raised by his mother in the Romford area. His early life was marked by a passion for drama, which was nurtured by a local drama school teacher who funded his audition to join the National Youth Theatre.
This experience led to his enrollment at the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama, where he was awarded the Alan Bates Bursary for 2008. Upon graduation, Luke built an impressive stage career, taking on leading roles in Tennessee Williams' "Orpheus Descending" at the Manchester Royal Exchange, as well as "A View From the Bridge" and "Blue/Orange" at the Young Vic.
In addition to his work as an actor, Luke is also a talented playwright, a passion he developed in his teenage years as a backup plan in case he failed to make it as an actor. His plays, including "Goodbye to All That," "So Here We Are," "Growth," and "Hearts," have received critical acclaim at various theaters, including the Royal Exchange in Manchester, the Edinburgh Fringe, Sheffield Crucible, and the National's Shed.
As of 2016, Luke is under commission to the Bush Theatre and has also appeared in the second television series of "Poldark" as Dr. Dwight Enys, a character described as idealistic but fallible.
In his personal life, Luke is married to actress Joanna Horton, whom he met while appearing together in the Royal Shakespeare Company's "Days of Significance." The couple runs a production company called Norton Productions and has a daughter named Albie.
