Biography

Tip, a renowned humorist and actor, began his journey at the age of 8 when he moved to Madrid with his family. He started attending secondary school in 1939 but didn't finish it. Instead, he enrolled in the Escuela de Cerámica in 1942 and 1943, where he studied cabinetmaking, ceramics, and amateur theatre. This experience sparked his passion for acting, and he decided to pursue a career in the Fine Arts School.

Tip made his debut at the María Guerrero theatre in 1944 and went on to work with the María Noé theatre company, performing all over Andalusia. In 1945, he entered Radio Madrid, where he made his radio debut in a children's program called 'Don Poeto Primavero de Quintillas.' He stayed with the station for 14 consecutive years, during which he formed the comic duo 'Tip y Top' with Joaquín Portillo Flores.

The duo became incredibly popular in Spain, working in theatre, nightclubs, and television. They wrote a book and made three films: Tres eran tres (1954),Fierecilla domada, La (1955),and Tarde de toros (1956). However, the couple broke off in 1961, and Tip went on to work alone, starting with the TV program 'Las Zapatiestas.'

Tip then began working sporadically with José Luis Coll, and they formed the comic duo 'Tip y Coll' in 1967. They worked together in many shows, made a film, La garbanza negra, que en paz descanse... (1972),and became known for their formal attire, including top hats. They worked in nightclubs, theatres, and radio, presenting their daily show at the Top-Less night club for at least 8 years.

Tip also worked on the TV program '625 líneas,' directed by José Antonio Plaza, where their sketches were frequently censored. In 1979, they topped the 'Top humorists of the year' list in a poll conducted by the 'Blanco y Negro' magazine.

In the 80s, Tip entered the radio program 'Protagonistas' on the COPE station and later the program 'Debate sobre el estado de la nación' on Onda Cero. He also started participating in the weekly TV program 'Este país necesita un repaso' on the Tele 5 channel in 1993.

Tip was hired by Onda Cero as a collaborator in the program 'La brújula' in September 1997, where he had a section called 'Cuentos infantiles para personas de cierta edad.' After 15 years on the air with 'Debate sobre el estado de la nación,' the program ended due to Tip's throat tumor diagnosis in September 1998.

Throughout his career, Tip has received numerous awards and nominations, including the Pueblo journal's popularity award, the Ondas award, and one of the Year's Protagonists' Awards given by the Onda Rambla de Barcelona station. He has been nominated as an Honorary Member in many associations and circles. Tip has also written several books, including 'Cantares del Mío Tip' (1980),'Santos varones' (1995),and 'Tipicoll español' (with Coll).

Some notable films featuring Tip include Mónica Stop (1969),De cuerpo presente (1967),Dame un poco de amooor...! (1968),Urtain, el rey de la selva... o así (1970),and El cronicón (1970).
