Luis Gerardo Méndez is a renowned Mexican actor and producer, best known for his starring role and executive producing duties in Netflix's first Spanish-language original comedy series, Club de Cuervos.
Recently, Luis appeared in the lead role of troubled Mexican police officer 'Victor Tapia' in Netflix's Narcos: Mexico (S3),receiving critical acclaim and rave reviews.
In addition to his work on Narcos: Mexico, Luis has also been filming the Netflix feature Me Time alongside Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, which is set to premiere in 2022.
Another exciting project Luis is working on is Juan Jose Campanella's eight-part thriller, Los Enviados (The Envoys),for Paramount Plus. The series premiered in the US in January 2022.
Luis has also recently wrapped filming the starring role in the Netflix limited series Belascoatran and will next film the limited series The Resort for Peacock, written and directed by Andy Siara.
Luis has made a significant impact in the American market, starring in the Netflix original feature Murder Mystery alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The film had the most watched original film opening in Netflix history, viewed by nearly 31 million households in its first three days.
He was then seen in the Sony feature film Charlie's Angels, directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Kristen Stewart. These projects marked Luis' entrance into the US marketplace with English-speaking roles.
In addition to his work in English-speaking films, Luis has also executive produced and starred in the Focus Films feature comedy, Half Brothers, which is inspired by events from his own life. The film was released by Universal in December 2020.
In Mexico, Luis has starred in a number of successful films, including Cantinflas and Gaz Alazraki's Nosotros los Nobles (The Noble Family),which has become the 2nd most successful film of all time at the Mexican box office. He has also received critical attention for his performance in Bayoneta, for which he received an Ariel Award nomination for Best Actor.
Luis has also demonstrated his versatility by alternating nights in the same role with Diego Luna in the 2017 Mexico City stage play Privacidad, which they both also produced. He has also starred in Sebastian Hofmann's 2017 Sundance film Time Share (Tiempo Compartido).
In addition to his work in film and television, Luis has also appeared in Verizon's international advertisement campaign and has served as the face of many Mexican advertising campaigns, including Pepsi and Toyota Prius.
