Born in Turin, he graduated with a degree in Economics and Business in 2004. This marked the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry. In 2005, he made his television debut in the popular series "Carabinieri", and just a year later, he made his big-screen debut in "A casa nostra", directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Francesca Comencini.
The following year, he appeared in the critically acclaimed film "Saturno contro", directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, and in "Lezioni di cioccolato", directed by Claudio Cupellini. In 2008, he starred in the film "Solo un padre", directed by Luca Lucini, and in 2009, he appeared in "Diverso da chi?", directed by Umberto Carteni, alongside the talented Claudia Gerini. His outstanding performance earned him a nomination for a David di Donatello as best leading actor.
That same year, he was part of the ensemble cast in Michele Placido's "Il grande sogno", alongside Jasmine Trinca and Riccardo Scamarcio. He played the role of the leader of the 1968 student protest movement, showcasing his versatility as an actor. He then went on to appear in a series of successful comedies, followed by his roles in two international films: Ryan Murphy's "Eat Pray Love" alongside Julia Roberts, and "Le Guetteur" with Daniel Auteil.
In 2020, he starred in the highly acclaimed television series "Doc - nelle tue mani", which became a massive hit in Italy, with an audience share of over 30%. The show's success was not limited to Italy, as it also gained popularity worldwide, reaching audiences in Spain, Portugal, France, England, Australia, New Zealand, and several Latin American countries. The second season of the show was equally well-received.
In addition to his acting career, he has been involved in various charitable endeavors. Since 2012, he has been the vice-president of the NPO 1caffe.org, which has revived the historic tradition of the "pending coffee" as an act of charity for people in need.
