Biography

Louis Vega is a renowned American DJ, record producer, and remixer of Puerto Rican descent, who is an integral part of the esteemed Masters at Work musical production team.

Born into a family with a rich musical heritage, Vega's father, Luis F. Vega Sr., was a skilled jazz saxophonist, while his uncle, Hector Lavoe, was a celebrated singer with the Fania All-Stars. Vega's passion for music was evident from a young age, as he began his music career as a disc jockey, spinning records at the tender age of 13.

By the mid-1980s, Vega had developed a taste for house music and block parties, and he started playing at local venues in the Bronx, including his first nightclub residency at the Devil's Nest. He later moved on to play at other prominent nightclubs in Manhattan, such as heartthrob, Roseland, Studio 54, and the Palladium.

During the 1990s, Vega was a regular fixture at The Sound Factory Bar, a legendary nightclub that played a significant role in the development of house music. He worked alongside promoters Don Welch and Barbara Tucker, who was also a talented singer, to host the Underground Network Parties. It was during this period that Vega and his partner, Kenny Gonzalez, formed the production team Masters at Work, which quickly established itself as one of the top remixing teams in the world by the mid-1990s.

By 1993, just a few years after its inception, Masters at Work had solidified its position as a leading force in the music industry, with a reputation for delivering high-quality remixes that were in high demand.
