Louie Lawless is a renowned producer and director in the film industry, born in Penticton, British Columbia, and raised on a farm in Bridesville. After completing high school, he embarked on a journey to Hollywood to pursue his dream of being involved in the film industry. He spent several years studying and working in various crew positions, from grip to Director of Photography, at numerous studios, honing his skills and eventually taking on the roles of producer and director.
In the 1970s, Lawless was part of a Hollywood production team that produced the feature-length documentary film "Manson," which received an Academy Award nomination. This marked the beginning of his membership in the Producer's Guild of America and the Director's Guild of America.
Over the next two decades, Lawless produced and directed feature films and television shows, while also teaching acting and film production at various studios in Hollywood. In 1994, he returned to Canada to produce independent films and television, eventually settling on Vancouver Island, where he continues to pursue his passion for filmmaking and teaching at the Victoria Motion Picture School.
Throughout his illustrious career, Lawless has produced and directed numerous feature films and television shows, including "The Diary," "Unrepentant," "Treacherous," "Private Road," "The Bixby Boys," "Outlaw Bikers," "Manson," "Easy Prey," "Mark of the Bear," "Ultimate Test," "Thunder in the Valley," "Wisdom of the River," "Spirit of the Eagle," "Adventures of Don Quixote," and "Hardcastle & McCormick." His extensive credits also include television productions such as "Holiday Star," "Rosy Grier Show," "Thunder and Lightning," and "Treacherous."
Lawless's impressive curriculum vitae includes his current role as an independent filmmaker and acting/director instructor at the Victoria Motion Picture School, as well as his previous positions as assistant director and director for television with Steven Cannell Productions in Hollywood. He has also completed the DGA Director's Training Program and the training program in acting and film-making at Merrick studios.
