Louie Cowan was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where his childhood dreams revolved around making movies in America. His introduction to professional theatre came at the tender age of 16, when he took on the role of Donalbain in Shakespeare's Macbeth. This marked the beginning of his journey in the world of musical theater, with notable performances as Joseph in the Cape Town production of Andrew Lloyd-Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and Rolf in "The Sound of Music".
