Liz Torres, a Puerto Rican-American actress, singer, and comedienne, was born on September 27, 1947, in the Bronx. She began her career as a regular performer in various small NYC nightclubs before receiving an invitation to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1962, which marked the beginning of her comic career on TV and in film.
Liz has had a long and successful career in television, with recurring or regular roles in numerous series, including 70s TV variety shows, Phyllis, All in the Family, Checking In, The New Odd Couple, City, The John Larroquette Show, Ally McBeal, The Nanny, Quantum Leap, The Wonder Years, and L.A. Law.
In addition to her TV work, Liz has had a successful career on Broadway, replacing Tony-winning Rita Moreno in the wacky comedy "The Ritz" and portraying the bizarre character of Bunny in "House of Blue Leaves." She has also recorded for RCA and appeared in a number of stage roles, including Aldonza/Dulcinea in "Man of La Mancha" and lightweight roles in "Bye Bye Birdie" and "See Saw."
Liz has provided comedic relief in a number of film comedies, including The Odd Couple II, Sunset, and Permanent Midnight. She has also appeared in more dramatic films, such as Gabriela, King Rikki, Taylor, and West of Brooklyn.
In addition to her acting career, Liz is married to producer Peter Locke and resides in Los Angeles.
