Liv Lisa Fries, a talented German actress, was born in 1990 in Berlin. Her passion for acting began at the tender age of 14, inspired by Natalie Portman's captivating performance in Léon: The Professional. Fries' early endeavors in the acting world were marked by a series of small roles, including a cut scene in Atomised (2005) and an episode of Schimanski in 2006, where she played the female lead.
Her breakthrough performance came in the German made-for-television film Sie hat es verdient, where she portrayed an aggressive and frustrated teenager named Linda who tortures one of her peers. Critics and audiences alike praised her performance, and Fries revealed that she resonated deeply with her character, feeling lonely and isolated during filming.
In 2013, Fries starred in the German tragicomedy Zurich (original title Und morgen Mittag bin ich tot),earning widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of Lea, a young woman struggling with cystic fibrosis. To prepare for the role, Fries met with a patient suffering from the disease and even ran up stairs while breathing through a straw to gain a deeper understanding of the character's experiences.
Fries has also appeared in the 2017 TV series Counterpart, playing a recurring role. In addition to her native German, she is fluent in English, French, and Mandarin, having studied abroad as an exchange student in Beijing. Fries received her Abitur in 2010 and initially enrolled to study philosophy and literary science, but ultimately dropped out as her acting career progressed.
