Biography

Lisa Jane Persky, also known as Eljay Persky, was born in Atlanta and spent her formative years growing up in New York City's iconic Greenwich Village. Her early start in the acting world began at La Mama E.T.C., where she made her debut in H.M. Koutoukas' "Grandmother Is In The Strawberry Patch" as the "World's Most Perfect Teenager".

Persky's next notable role was alongside the legendary Divine in Tom Eyen's "Women Behind Bars". She went on to appear in numerous plays, including Broadway's "Steaming" and productions at the Met Theater and LATC.

Lisa Persky made her film debut in 1979, playing the role of Robert Duvall's daughter in "The Great Santini". Her subsequent film credits include Rob Reiner's "The Sure Thing" and "When Harry Met Sally...", Francis Ford Coppola's "The Cotton Club" and "Peggy Sue Got Married", and memorable roles in "The Big Easy" and "Coneheads".

Persky has also had the opportunity to work with Quentin Tarantino, providing him with his first screen kiss in "Destiny Turns on the Radio" and playing the role of "Dirty Dee" in the cult classic "Kiss Meets the Phantom of The Park" in 1978.

In addition to her work in film, Persky has had featured roles in numerous television shows, including "NYPD Blue", "The Practice", "Touched by an Angel", "Quantum Leap", and "The X-Files".

Throughout her career, Persky has demonstrated her versatility and talent, working as an Assistant Executive Producer on Barbet Schroeder's "Kiss of Death" and shaping special projects for the producers of "Jeopardy!". She is also a freelance writer, photographer, and editorial collage artist, having contributed to publications such as The Los Angeles Times, L.A. Weekly, Q, MOJO, Journal of Popular Music Studies, and The Pitchfork Review.

Persky is a founding editor of both New York Rocker and L.A. Review of Books, a recipient of a Print Magazine Award for Design Excellence, and had her first short story featured in BOMB magazine.
