Lin-Manuel Miranda penned the initial draft of "In the Heights" during his sophomore year at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

The Off-Broadway production of "In the Heights" garnered a staggering nine Drama Desk nominations, including nods for best music, best lyrics, and outstanding ensemble performance, ultimately taking home the award for outstanding ensemble performance.

This critically acclaimed musical also received the prestigious Lucille Lortel Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for best musical, as well as the Obie Award for outstanding music and lyrics.

In addition, "In the Heights" was honored with a Theater World Award for outstanding debut performance and the Clarence Derwent Award, both recognizing Lin-Manuel Miranda's impressive performance.

Throughout his career, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the 2007 ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award.
