Biography

Christopher Hamill, also known by his stage name Limahl, was born on December 19, 1958, in Wigan, Lancashire, England. He rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the British pop-rock band Kajagoogoo, which he joined in the early 1980s.

As the band's popularity grew, Limahl's personal and professional relationships with his bandmates began to deteriorate. The tension came to a head in 1983, when he abruptly left the group due to the increasing dominance of guitarist Nick Beggs over the band's creative direction.

Despite his tumultuous exit from Kajagoogoo, Limahl's flamboyant stage presence and connections in the music industry, including his friendship with BBC pop presenter Paul Gambaccini, positioned him well for a successful solo career.

Limahl's solo debut, "Only for Love," was released in 1984 and peaked at number 20 on the UK Top 20 chart. His second solo single, "Too Much Trouble," failed to match the success of his debut, but his third single, "Never Ending Story," became a hit, reaching number 4 on the UK charts and earning him a US chart entry.

Although Limahl's subsequent releases, including "Don't Suppose," failed to chart, he continued to perform live and appear in musical theatre productions. Despite his absence from the commercial music scene, Limahl remains a beloved figure in the music industry, cherished for his contributions to the world of 1980s pop music.
