Biography

Leticia Castillo, a Dominican Republic native, arrived in the United States at the tender age of five and quickly learned the language by watching American television. This early exposure to the world of film sparked a passion within her that would eventually drive her to pursue a multifaceted career in acting, writing, and directing for both the screen and stage.

As an actor, Leticia has had the privilege of working alongside renowned talents such as Jennifer Lopez, Jeremy Piven, and John Leguizamo. Her notable credits include appearances in "When They See Us," "Shades of Blue," and "For Life." A particularly memorable experience came when she landed a role directed by the esteemed Ava Duvernay.

However, Leticia's creative pursuits extend far beyond acting. She has written, produced, and directed several acclaimed works, including the plays "Yo Soy Latina" and "A Little Sugar for the Heart," which won the award for best play. Her short film "Los Angeles" was accepted into the prestigious Borimix film festival, and she has also created a YouTube series, "Mixmatched." Additionally, Leticia co-founded the Downstage Central Theatre, a testament to her dedication to supporting the acting community.

Throughout her journey, Leticia has had the opportunity to hone her craft under the guidance of some of the industry's most respected teachers. In New York, she studied with Susan Batson, Carl Ford, Richard Pinter, and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, as well as Chicago City Limits, Brad Calcaterra, and Kimball Studios. In Los Angeles, she worked with Joe Anthony, Aaron Speiser, Kathy Kinney, and Jerry Katzman, whose coaching inspired her to take the leap into stand-up comedy at the iconic Comedy Store.

For Leticia, acting serves as a means of fulfilling her artistic purpose. With each new role comes a fresh opportunity for her to showcase her unique talent, and she is filled with excitement and anticipation for what the future holds.
