Biography

Writer/Director/Actor Leon Le was born in Vietnam and spent his early years growing up in his homeland until the age of 13, when his family made the bold decision to relocate to Southern California, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. After completing his education, Leon pursued his lifelong passion for the performing arts by relocating to New York City, where he aimed to establish himself as a skilled Actor/Dancer/Singer in the competitive world of Musical Theater.

Leon's impressive career in Musical Theater spanned various mediums, including Broadway, film, and television, as well as acting roles in TV series and feature films in Vietnam. His extensive experience and exceptional talent soon led him to pursue another long-held dream: writing and directing.

Leon's remarkable short film, Dawn, premiered in 2012 and received widespread critical acclaim, screening at over 30 film festivals worldwide. The film's impressive accolades include the Excellence in Fiction Short Filmmaking Award at the Asian American International Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Vancouver International Film Festival, Best LGBT Short Film at the YXINE Film Festival, Best International Short Film at the YXINE Film Festival, Best Director at the YXINE Film Festival, Best Editing at the Asian Online Film Festival, Best Ensemble Cast at the Asian Online Film Festival, and a nomination for the Iris Prize Festival Award in Wales.

Leon's subsequent short film, Talking to My Mother, began its festival run in 2015 and has already garnered numerous awards, including Best Drama, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Score at the Asians on Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Viet Film Fest, and Best LGBT Short and Audience Choice Award at the YXINE Film Festival.

Leon's first feature film, Song Lang, was entirely filmed in Vietnam and made its debut in 2018, earning significant awards worldwide.
