Lenka Peterson, born Lenka Isacson, was raised in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of a Swedish diagnostician, Sven Edward Isacson, and a Hungarian lab technician, Magdalina "Lenke" (Leinweber). She began her acting journey in local amateur theatre, later majoring in drama at the University of Iowa.
