Lefteris Charitos, a multifaceted individual, has made a significant impact in the world of film as both a fiction and documentary director.
With a strong educational background in film from the esteemed Royal College of Art in London, Charitos has gone on to create a diverse range of projects, showcasing his versatility as a filmmaker.
One of his most notable achievements is the feature documentary "Dolphin Man" (2017),a co-production between several countries, including Greece, France, Canada, Japan, and Italy, with the support of prominent film institutions such as ARTE, French and Greek Film Centres, WOWOW, SVT, Knowledge Network, ERT, and RTS.
This documentary, which explores the life of the renowned free diver Jacques Mayol, the inspiration behind Luc Besson's cult film "The Big Blue", has been screened at several prestigious film festivals worldwide, including the International Tokyo Film Festival, Miami Film Festival, Angers Premiers Plans, and Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
In addition to his work in documentary filmmaking, Charitos has also directed numerous fiction and documentary series for Greek television, including the highly acclaimed history documentary series "1821" and "The Journey of Food", as well as the fiction crime series "Zone Defence".
Furthermore, Charitos has also made a significant contribution to the academic world, serving as a Film Production coordinator and lecturer at SAE Creative Media College, sharing his expertise and knowledge with the next generation of filmmakers.
