Laurie Sumiye is a multifaceted documentary artist and creative technologist, born in the enchanting state of Hawai'i, where she has dedicated her career to exploring the intricate and often contentious relationships between humans and the natural world.

With a diverse range of educational and professional backgrounds, including interactive media, animation, journalism, and design, Sumiye's unique fusion of skills and expertise has yielded a distinctive body of work that seamlessly blends film, drawing, and installation art.

Throughout her illustrious career, Sumiye has garnered numerous accolades for her films, which have been showcased at prestigious festivals such as DOC NYC, BAMcinemaFest, and DOCUTAH. Her artwork has also been presented in a variety of esteemed venues across the globe, including New York, Los Angeles, Hawai'i, and internationally in the UK, South Africa, and Brazil.
