After graduating from NCSA, Laura's family ties to her hometown played a significant role in her decision to move to New York City. Her parents, who own a tire service shop, provided her with a strong support system as she pursued her passion for the performing arts. Laura quickly found work in several off-Broadway productions, laying the groundwork for her future success.
A major breakthrough came in 1996, when she won the leading role of Amanda Cory in the popular soap opera Another World. Her impressive performance earned her a loyal fan base, and she remained a part of the show until 1998. The following year, she joined the cast of a Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman, starring the renowned actor Brian Dennehy.
