Laura Marano's journey in the entertainment industry began at the tender age of five, when she started performing in theatrical productions at the Agoura Children's Theatre. She continued to hone her craft by appearing in numerous national commercials.
Her breakthrough role came when she starred as the titular character, "Ally Dawson", in the Disney Channel's hit show "Austin & Ally" in 2011. Prior to this, she had made guest appearances on various television shows, including "Heroes", "Childrens Hospital", "Flashforward", "True Jackson, VP", "Ghost Whisperer", "Little Monk", "Medical Investigation", "Huff", and "Joan of Arcadia".
Laura's film career also began at a young age, with her first feature film being "The Jacket" in 2005, produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh. She shared the screen with Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody and worked on Judd Apatow's film "Superbad" in 2007. She also appeared in the short film "Goldfish" in the same year.
In addition to her live-action work, Laura has lent her voice to several animated films, including the commercially successful "Finding Nemo" in 2003 and "Ice Age: The Meltdown" in 2006. She has also had recurring roles on Nickelodeon shows "The X's" and "Ni Hao, Kai-Lan".
Laura has also appeared in several television shows, including "Without a Trace", "Dexter", and "The Sarah Silverman Program". She was a series regular on the hit show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" during her 5th grade year in elementary school and worked as a series regular on "Back to You" with Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton.
When she's not acting, Laura enjoys a variety of activities, including soccer, piano, hip-hop, tap dancing, and singing. She is an avid songwriter and has written over a hundred songs. Laura is also a devoted reader and has a fondness for William Shakespeare's works, having recently finished reading "King Lear". She is a fan of the "Harry Potter" series and loves to travel, having visited Europe three times.
Laura is best friends with Ross Lynch and keeps in touch with him regularly. She lives with her parents and sister in the Los Angeles area and attends a private school.
