Larry F. Houston is a renowned Producer/Director, celebrated for his work on the iconic 90s animated series, THE X-MEN, which garnered numerous accolades, including an Emmy nomination, and played a pivotal role in establishing Marvel's mutant franchise as a global phenomenon.
In his early career, Larry made history as the first African-American Saturday Morning Storyboard Artist at Filmation Studios, where he contributed to the creation of beloved 80s and 90s shows, including Thundarr, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, ExoSquad, Transformers, Spawn, Mr. T, Batman, Real Ghostbusters, Conan, Swamp Thing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Orbots, Bionic Six, Visionaries, Hulk, and Defenders of the Earth.
Houston's impressive portfolio also includes directing credits for various shows, such as Captain Planet, GI Joe, Fantastic Four's second season, The Karate Kid, Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, RoboCop Alpha Commando, Kid N Play, The Care Bears on CBS Saturday Mornings, and three Care Bear Movies. He is also the writer of standout episodes like "Swarm" from Spiderman and his Amazing Friends and "Hearts and Cannons" from the 80s GI Joe syndicated series.
Larry's artistic talents extend beyond directing and writing, as he is also responsible for designing the iconic X-Men TV Opening and the inspiring GI Joe Movie Intro. Additionally, he drew the intros for The Karate Kid and the TV show Community's GI Jeff.
Houston has had the distinction of directing the first two animated appearances of the Black Panther, including the 90's X-MEN series and the first fully animated episode, "Prey of the Black Panther", in the second season of The Fantastic Four.
In his capacity as a comic book creator, Larry has expanded the world of He-Man Mini-Comics by introducing diverse heroes and villains into the He-Man mythology, and has also contributed to the DNAgents comic book and Flare story from Heroic Publishing. He is currently working on new stories for his super-heroines The Vanguards, as well as developing new creations for the modern market.
