Biography

Lambert Wilson was born in Paris, France, and pursued his passion for acting by studying at the prestigious Drama Centre in London.

A fluent English speaker, he made his feature film debut at the age of twenty-two in Fred Zinnemann's "Five Days One Summer" (1981),starring alongside Sean Connery.

Throughout his illustrious career, Lambert Wilson has had the privilege of working with some of France's most esteemed directors, including Andrzej Zulawski, Véra Belmont, André Téchiné, Luigi Comencini, Claude Chabrol, Philippe de Broca, and Peter Greenaway.

He has also had the opportunity to collaborate with acclaimed international directors such as James Ivory, John Duigan, Alain Resnais, Jacques Doillon, Deborah Warner, and Raùl Ruiz.

In addition to his film work, Lambert Wilson has also appeared in numerous stage productions, including a stint with the Comédie-Française.

Some of his notable film roles include appearances in "Jefferson in Paris" (1994),"The Leading Man" (1996),"The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" (2001),"Catwoman" (2004),"Sahara" (2005),"Flawless" (2006),and "Babylon A.D." (2007).

More recently, Lambert Wilson has starred in the international productions "Posthumous" (2014),"5 to 7" (2014),and "Suite Française" (2014),as well as the French films "Palais Royal!" (2004),"Of Gods and Men" (2009),"The Princess of Montpensier" (2009),"Le Marsupilami" (2011),and "Cycling with Moliere" (2012).

In the summer of 2013, he played the lead in Eric Lavaine's "Barbecue" (2014),opposite Florence Foresti, Franck Dubosc, Guillaume de Tonquédec, Lionel Abelanski, Jérôme Commandeur, Valérie Crouzet, Sophie Duez, and Lysiane Meis.

Throughout his career, Lambert Wilson has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Jean Gabin Award, the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Grand Prize of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival.

Lambert Wilson is a Chevalier and Officier des Arts et des Lettres and Chevalier and Officier de l'Ordre National du Merite.
