Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, a renowned Cornish actress, was born in the charming town of Redruth, Cornwall, to Deborah (Hurlbatt),a devoted mother, and Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas, a brave and daring pilot for the British Royal Navy. Tragedy struck early in her life when her father, Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas, met a fatal end in a flying accident in 1964, leaving behind a lasting impact on the young Kristin. However, her family's resilience was tested once again when her stepfather, Lt. Cdr Simon Idiens, a fellow pilot, succumbed to a similar fate just six years later. Despite these challenges, Kristin found solace in her childhood home in Dorset, England, where she grew up surrounded by the beauty of the English countryside. As she entered adulthood, Kristin made the bold decision to leave her homeland at the tender age of 19 to work as an au pair in the City of Light, Paris. This life-changing experience not only broadened her horizons but also laid the foundation for her future success. In her personal life, Kristin has been married to French doctor François Oliviennes, with whom she shares three wonderful children, Hannah, Joseph, and George.
