Kris Holden-Ried is a multifaceted individual, exceling in various pursuits including television and film acting, as well as the sport of pentathlon. Born in Scarborough, Ontario, and raised in a farm town northeast of Toronto, Kris' driven spirit has led him to achieve success in multiple areas of his life.
Kris' early interests lay in acting, but he didn't immediately pursue it as a career. Instead, he attended Montreal's Concordia University School of Business to study international commerce. While continuing his education, Kris also showcased his athletic prowess, becoming a member of the Canadian National Pentathlon Team and earning silver medals from the Pan American and Pan Pacific Pentathlon Championships for riding and fencing.
Although Kris was an exceptional athlete, his financial situation and interests ultimately led him to the world of acting. In 1994, he joined a small agency in Montreal, hoping to make a living and continue his education. His first audition was for the title role in the TV movie *Young Ivanhoe*, and he successfully landed the part, marking the beginning of his acting career.
Kris has since appeared in a variety of roles, including his portrayal of Dyson in the Syfy series *Lost Girl*, where he played a likable werewolf-shifter working as a police detective. He has also appeared in *The Returned*, *Underworld Awakening*, and *The Tudors*, among other projects.
Throughout his career, Kris has trained with renowned acting coaches, including Uta Hagen's Master Class Scene Study and Janine Manatis of the Actor's Studio NY and the National Film Acting School. When he's not acting, Kris enjoys outdoor activities such as sailing, scuba diving, surfing, and yoga, and cites *Gandhi* as one of his favorite films.
Kris' ultimate goal is to transition to behind the camera, and he would love to work with acclaimed directors such as Scorsese, Scott, and Spielberg. He currently resides in Toronto with his son and black Labrador, Hopper.
