Krista Sutton, a Dora Award nominee and co-star of the Genie-nominated film The Dogwalker, has years of professional acting experience in Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles.
Her latest work can be seen as Paula in Amazon Prime's The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh.
Sutton's career gained international recognition with a key scene in the film American Psycho, earning her the title of "It Girl" at Sundance. Her performance opposite Christian Bale received widespread coverage.
A familiar face in commercials, Sutton has appeared in widely played hit comedic ads for Special K, including one with Cindy Crawford. She has played a range of supporting and leading roles, including Liz Irwin-Gallo on the nightly improv soap opera Train 48, which aired for 340 episodes on Global TV.
Sutton has also appeared in numerous TV shows, including Comedy Central's Punched up, ABC's Me and My Shadows, The Associates, The Newsroom, The Neighbors, Missing, Kevin Hill, This is Wonderland, and West Wing.
Her film work includes roles opposite Richard Dreyfuss and Judy Davis in Coast to Coast, Welcome to Mooseport, Stir of Echoes II, Jack and Jill vs the World, Doomstown, and the short film The Dogwalker, which was a Toronto International, Montreal World, and Palm Springs Film Festival selection.
Sutton has also starred in Brock Simpson's This Could Be Love at the Artword Theatre in Toronto, which received rave reviews. She reprised her role at the New York Musical Festival, where critics compared her to TONY award-winning Beth Leavel.
Sutton began her career in theatre, graduating from the University of Toronto's theatre program. She went on to tour Europe with the Berliner-Ensemble production of The House of Bernarda Alba and played in MacBeth directed by Robert Lepage.
Other notable stage credits include the revival of Godspell, Pericles, and The Vagina Monologues, which featured a star-studded cast.
In New York, Sutton has landed roles Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons, Circle Rep, La MaMa ETC, and The Vital Theatre Company.
Fluent in American Sign Language, Sutton was active in the Deaf Theatre scene in New York and played Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream in ASL.
In her free time, she studied with renowned Broadway performer David Shiner and has extensive training in Commedia dell'Arte, Improv, and Clowning. She has taught these skills in Toronto, New York's inner-city schools, and at Gotham City Improv.
Sutton is also a sought-after pen and ink artist and illustrator.
