King Lau's life began in the notorious Kowloon Walled City of Hong Kong, where he spent his early years before immigrating to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with his family. His father worked in the steel industry, while his mother was employed in a garment factory. At university, King initially aimed to become a Religious Studies Professor, but later changed course, instead training to become a Professional Wrestler in the esteemed "Dungeon" of the Hart family in Calgary, Alberta.
