Biography

Keye Luke, a renowned individual, was born in the culturally rich city of Canton, China, a place that would later influence his early life and career choices.

As a young man, Luke relocated to Seattle, Washington, where he developed an interest in the world of commercial art and design. He honed his skills as a talented artist, creating captivating movie posters that would soon lead him to pursue a career in the film industry.

Initially, Luke found work as a technical advisor on various Asian-themed films, using his knowledge of Chinese culture to bring authenticity to these productions. His first film appearance was in the 1934 movie "The Painted Veil", marking the beginning of a long and storied career in Hollywood.

Throughout his career, Luke became a familiar face on the big screen, often playing Chinese characters in small but significant roles. One notable exception was his appearance in the 1937 film "The Good Earth", where he played a more substantial part.

In addition to his work in films, Luke also appeared in the Dr. Kildare series at MGM, playing the role of Dr. Kildare's rival at the hospital. However, it was his iconic portrayal of Charlie Chan's #1 son in the popular film series that brought him the most recognition and acclaim.

Decades later, a new generation of fans discovered Luke's talents through his recurring role in the popular TV series "Kung Fu", which aired from 1972.
