Kevin Saunderson, an American electronic music producer and DJ, was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1964, and has earned a reputation as a versatile techno stalwart, as well as one of the originators of the genre.
In his early years, Saunderson matriculated within the storied Belleville Three, a group consisting of him, Derrick May, and Juan Atkins, around 1984, marking the beginning of his deejaying career.
In 1986, he founded his company, KMS Records, and two years later, collaborated with vocalist Paris Grey on the single "Big Fun," which reached the Top Ten chart in England.
In 1989, his techno-pop act Inner City released its debut album, also titled "Big Fun," or "Paradise" in the U.K., through Virgin Records, and charted on Great Britain's Top 40 eight times, topping the U.S. dance chart four times, releasing four proper studio albums.
Saunderson has recorded music under various other aliases, including the Reese Project, E-Dancer, and Tronik House, while KMS Records has continued to release techno music to the present day.
Throughout his illustrious career, Saunderson has demonstrated his versatility and talent, earning him a place as one of the pioneers of the techno genre, and his impact continues to be felt in the electronic music scene.
